Living in Marysville.
On the banks of the Snohomish River, 35 miles north of Seattle along I-5, with Everett to the south and Arlington to the north.
What it is like
Marysville, from the official record.
Every fact here comes from the city, the county, WSDOT or the parks agencies. Sources are listed below.
Getting around
I-5 runs through Marysville, with the 4th Street interchange (SR 528, Exit 199) by downtown and new ramps to SR 529 and State Avenue at what is now Exit 198, opened in 2025. City arterials link I-5 with SR 9 to the east.
Community Transit runs express routes to Link light rail at Lynnwood City Center, and the Swift Gold Line, connecting Arlington, Marysville and Everett, is projected to open in 2031.
Parks and trails
Jennings Memorial and Nature Park is the centerpiece of the city's park system, and the city also maps a 3.4-mile Jennings Loop Walk. Ebey Waterfront Park has a boat launch into the Snohomish River delta, and the first phase of the Ebey Waterfront Trail offers 1.8 miles of shoreline.
Gissberg Twin Lakes Park is a 44-acre regional park known for its lakes. The Bayview Trail now links to the Centennial Trail, whose Marysville trailhead is at 152nd Street and 67th Avenue.
The water
Marysville sits on the Snohomish River, with the Cascades to the east and Puget Sound to the west, and the city lists views of Mount Pilchuck, the Cascades and the Olympics. Olympic View Park looks out over the Qwuloolt Estuary, Ebey Slough and the Olympic Mountains.
The restored estuary is home to salmon, river otters, seals and more than 250 bird species.
Known for
Marysville began as a trading post, and James Comeford incorporated the town in 1891. It earned the nickname the Strawberry City and celebrates every June with the Strawberry Festival and Grand Parade.
The Opera House, built in 1911 by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, is the only building in Marysville on the National Historic Register, and Jennings Park hosts a summer concert series and movies in the park.
From Rich
I have lived in Arlington since December 2003, and I started driving trucks on Snohomish and Skagit County roads in 2004. If you are weighing Marysville, call or text me and I will tell you what I know about it, and what I do not.
